This Week's Devotional Scripture: Mmmm, that’s appetising!!
Key Scripture: Gen 3: 6
Temptation often begins by looking at something pleasing to the eyes, the flesh or
desirable for personal ambition. The battle is, however, lost at the first look. The
desire to become wise seemed quite reasonable to Eve even though it was
disobedience to God. As a result, after looking she got enticed, took, ate and
shared with Adam.
Eve found herself in a situation most people find themselves in. They usually
choose the wrong things after being exposed and convincing themselves that
those choices are harmless. Once sin is committed it has the deadly potential of
contaminating those nearby in the same way Eve shared the fruit of the knowledge
of good and evil with Adam.
Paul advises in 2 Timothy 2: 22 “Now flee from youthful lusts and pursue
righteousness, ...” Recognise and flee from things that activate the cravings of your
flesh, the enticement of your eyes and personal ambition.
